The Star City Striders is a volunteer organized group of active individuals who celebrate a running and walking lifestyle. We welcome all speeds, levels of competitiveness (and non-competitive) and fitness levels to take part in races, fun events and group runs for our health and well-being.

The Star City Striders have been around since the late 1970s as a resource for runners and walkers in the area to gather, enjoy an active lifestyle and share some miles. There is no requirement for distance, pace or achievements. We gather throughout the year for larger social events, like the annual run up Mill Mountain on New Years Day and occasionally around July 4th for another run up to the Star. We host two signature races a year; The Star City Women's 5k in October and the Star City Half Marathon and 10k in November. Additionally, Striders are ambassadors in local, regional and national races. We meet monthly for fun events like Salem Red Sox games or for informational meetings on topics that matter to runners. Cross training, nutrition, biomechanics and injury prevention are just some of the topics you can expect to learn about at our meetings. With two signature races offered by the club, group runs and informative meetings, you're sure to enjoy being a part of the Star City Striders. We welcome beginners and experienced runners.
