Course description: 3.1 miles (5K) - Starting on Grandin Road near the U.S. Post Office, go south on Grandin to Shirley Avenue, turn right, proceed to Arden Road. Turn left and run one block to Carter Road and turn right. Follow Carter for one block, turn left onto Lincoln Avenue, then right on Carlton Road behind Woodrow Wilson Middle School. Turn right onto Devon Road at bottom of hill, follow Devon to Windsor Avenue, go right on Windsor to Dudding Street, left on Dudding for one block to Maiden Lane, right on Maiden for 0.4mile, then right on Brunswick Road for one block to Windsor Avenue. Right on Windsor, follow Windsor approximately 0.5 mile. Turn left on Devon, left on Carleton, right on Carter for one block, left on Arden, then right on Shirley Avenue. Follow Shirley to Grandin Road, turn left and follow north on Grandin Road to finish line in Grandin Village.

Entry fee: $20 (includes pasta dinner for race entry only).Late entries fee: $25 (entries postmarked or paid in person after Oct. 1) 

Pasta Dinner: Virginia Heights Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 2014 Memorial Ave., Roanoke, VA 24015.

Time: 6-7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 5 (pre-race program follows dinner). Friends and family may purchase additional meal tickets at the packet pickup for $5 per person if they wish to eat dinner.

Packet pickup: Friday, Oct. 5, 4:30-7:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, 7-8:30 a.m. (parking lot of Roanoke Natural Foods Cooperative off Grandin near finish line)

Awards: Overall winners, 1st-5th places (overall winners not eligible for age group awards) 

Age groups: Top 3 in each division; Sister/Sister and Mother/Daughter awards (all entrants in these categories eligible for special drawing for awards).

Runners and walkers should be aware of any possible weather issues the day of the race and wear appropriate clothes. All entrants should be fit enough to complete the 3.1 mile distance. It is recommended that walkers be able to comfortably complete the course distance in approximately one hour.

No pets, skaters and rollerbladers allowed.

Headphones and headsets are strongly discouraged but will be allowed.

We discourage baby strollers but if present, you must stay at the back of the pack and to the right at all times.

Anyone who interferes with runners returning on the out and back course will be asked to leave the course.

Parking: Parking will be available at several off-site venues. Details to follow.

Water stations: There will be one water station near the park at Woodrow Wilson Middle School; runners/walkers will pass this aid station twice. Water and sports drinks will also be available at or near the finish line area.
